I love words. From stringing them together to teach others about the Bible or speaking life into someone's life, words hold great power. They make or break relationships, present information in a new way and ultimately change lives. Too often, however, I have not understood the weight of my words. I have used them like a slingshot, swinging them wildly and letting them fly, knocking down anyone or anything that gets in my way. The Bible has a lot to say about the power of words, whether spoken or unspoken. When used with a right heart, they have the power to greatly enrich others' lives. When used in a manner accompanied by a sinful heart, they bring curses and destruction to the people in their wake. For the next 30 days, I'll explore the power of words and the life (or death) they can bring. I hope you will enjoy taking this journey with me. You can find each day’s new post by either visiting this home page or clicking on the graphic labeled “The power of words” above. As you read each day's entry, ask yourself the following questions: How have I used my words? Have my words brought life or death to others? In what ways can I use my words to align myself with God's will? Words have the power to bring health and healing or hurt and disappointment. How will you use yours today?
