A group of friends gathered at the local park to run or walk. I have always wanted to train for a 5k, but have never been able to muster the stamina or lung capacity to do so. When I arrived, I didn't expect to start training. In fact, I didn't know what to expect. We all decided to follow the schedule for couch to 5k running program. I was apprehensive; convinced I would have to quit. But with each cycle, you know what I found:
It got a little easier.
Simply because I showed up, put one foot in front of the other and committed to completing the goal, I finished day one of the program.
But that was day one. I have many days to go.
If I expect to cross the finish line of a 5 k, I have to show up, commit to doing the work and give God what I have, even if it's the little things. Matthew 14:15-18 says, "As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food.” Jesus replied, 'They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.' 'We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,' they answered. “Bring them here to me,” he said."
If I agree to give God the little things I have to offer, He will take it and multiply it to His glory for the purpose of changing lives.
Lord, take the little things we give you and multiply them for your glory. Amen.
